Minnie Layden Jones, 89, of the 5100 block of Langston Road, a retired lunch room attendant, died July 17, 1994, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Jones was born in Hertford, N.C., and was the widow of John E. Jones. She was retired from Kempsville High School and was a member of Glad Tidings Church, Norfolk.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty L. Hurni of Lakeland, Fla., and Shirley J. Olha of Virginia Beach; four sons, the Rev. Paul E. Jones of Pismo Beach, Calif., Andrew L. Jones of Seattle, John Wesley Jones and Alfred Garr Jones, both of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Paul E. Jones and the Rev. Jerry Qualls. Friends may join the family at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and at the residence at other times, 5137 Langston Road, Virginia Beach.
