Mr. John Leonard Jackson, 82, of 303 Elizabeth St., died Sunday, July 24, 1994, in Obici Hospital. A native of Pasquotank County, N.C., he was the son of the late Cornelius L. and Lovie O'Neal Jackson.
Mr. Jackson retired from Gulf Life Insurance. He served as staff sergeant in the Army during World War II. Mr. Jackson was a member of First Baptist Church and its Hoggard Bible Class. He was a member of Kings Fork Ruritan Club and Welcome Lodge 50 Knights of Pythias.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Collins Jackson; two daughters, Sue Anne Howell of Norfolk and Lovey Jackson Lyons of Suffolk; three sisters, Mary Lee Jackson and Sarah Louise Brite, both of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Lessie Craig of Tarboro, N.C.; four brothers, Willard Jackson of Puta Gorda, Fla., Carol Jackson and Francis Jackson, both of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Cornelius Jackson Jr. of Clarksville; and two granddaughters.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles W. Thompson with burial will Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home.
