A cluster of isolated thunderstorms brought very heavy downpours to the north end of the Oceanfront Sunday night, flooding roads and leaving cars stalled all along Atlantic Avenue. The storms would dissipate but then re-develop over northeastern Virginia Beach, dropping copious amounts of rain.
As a result, police closed Atlantic Avenue and adjacent streets from 50th Street to 65th Street.
