RUTH W. HERBERT

   Ruth Woodward Herbert, 90, of the 4900 block of West Norfolk Road, died 
July 24, 1994, in a hospital.
   Mrs. Herbert was a Baptist and was the widow of J. Pendleton Herbert. She 
was a retired administrative secretary at the Norfolk Naval Base and was a 
member of the Professional Secretaries.
   Survivors include a sister, Helen W. Walker, and brother-in-law, Lloyd W. 
Walker, of Portsmouth; and a nephew, Donald R. Woodward of California.
   A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in Olive Branch 
Cemetery by the Rev. Mel Kunkle. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is handling 
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or to a
charity of the donor's choice.
