MARIE H. JONES

Marie Hedrick Jones, 84, of the 100 block of Beaton Drive, a retired 
salesperson, died July 24, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.
   Mrs. Jones, a native of Lexington, N.C., was the widow of Gilmer J. Jones. 
She was retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Portsmouth and was a member of 
Monumental United Methodist Church.
   Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou J. Michie of Chesapeake; a son, 
Benny J. Jones Sr. of Portsmouth; a sister, Dorothy H. Jiske of Atlanta; seven
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
   A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Floral Gardens Park 
Cemetery, High Point, N.C. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant 
Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and at the 
Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point, from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
