EDWARD O. BURROUGHS

   Edward Otis Burroughs, 88, died July 24, 1994, in his residence.
   Mr. Burroughs was born in Bethel, N.C., and was retired from Royster Co. as
manager of the insurance department after 37 years. He was a charter member of
Talbot Park Baptist Church, teacher of the Adult Bible Class and financial 
secretary of the church for over 40 years. He was a member of the board of 
directors and was director emeritus of the Salvation Army, and a former member
of the Kiwanis Club of Norfolk. He was a graduate of Wake Forest University, 
class of 1926.
   Survivors include his wife, Britt Gilbert Burroughs; a daughter, Jean 
Matthews of Vienna, Va.; a son, Edward Gilbert Burroughs of Edenton; seven 
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
   A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Talbot Park Baptist 
Church by Dr. Harry T. Dixon Jr. and the Rev. Keith Martin. Burial will be in 
Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 
Tidewater Drive Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be 
made to Talbot Park Baptist Church.
