Violet Capps McClanan, 75, of the 700 block of Kennedy Ave., died on Thursday, July 28th, at the home of her daughter.
Mrs. McClanan was born in Princess Anne County and was the widow of Russell E. McClanan. She owned and operated the Leading Beauty Salon in Virginia Beach for 40 years until her retirement in 1982.
Survivors include her daughter, Jerry McClanan Harris, and son-in-law, Dave Harris of Virginia Beach; five sisters, Thelma Gilbert of Fort McCoy, Fla., Edna Grimstead, Vivian Wilkerson, Mabel Capps and Anita Harris, all of Virginia Beach; one brother, Earl Capps of Virginia Beach; three grandsons, Rusty and Randy Harris of Virginia Beach, and Rob Harris of Stafford County, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Harris; and two great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Robert Harris of Stafford County.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Virginia Beach Chapter (NU)75, and a former member of the Virginia Beach Sand Witches.
A graveside service will be conducted in Rosewood Memorial Park Saturday, July 30th, at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Gary E. Heaton. Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel, in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 1265 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, 23456. The family will receive friends at 700 Kennedy Ave., Virginia Beach, 23451.
