Edgar Ruffin ``Dick'' Hatton Sr., 77, of Route 3, a retired agriculture chemicals salesman, died July 28, 1994, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Hatton was born in Pitt County, N.C., and was retired from Thompson-Hayward Chemical Co., Norfolk, and Meherrin Chemical Co., Ahoskie. He was a member and deacon of Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, where he was also a Sunday School teacher of the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Vincent Hatton; two daughters, Jo Ann H. Caffee of Chesapeake and Sue H. Spring of Suffolk; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Edgar R. Hatton Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Robert May. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to Hickory Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, Route 4, Ahoskie, N.C. 27910.
