She was acting principal of Willard Model School and was an assistant principal at Willard and at Camp Allen Elementary. She taught third, fourth and fifth grades at Gatewood and Ghent elementary schools.
Goals: ``My first goal is just to get to know the teachers, the staff and the community, which - with a school - this size is a big goal,'' Margulies said of Little Creek, whose 1,100 students make it the city's largest elementary school. Once she settles in she wants to ``exhibit some leadership and continue to move this staff forward in school-based management and assist them in making decisions to meet the instructional needs here at Little Creek.'' She also wants to increase student achievement and decrease behavior problems.
Obstacles: ``Just opening the lines of communication.''
Proudest accomplishment as an educator: ``Building a cohesive staff and leading the staff to develop common goals and work together. It's much easier for teachers to close the door and be self-contained, but they do a much better job when they open the door and meet together.''
Hobbies: Going to the beach, jet skiing, swimming, recreational reading.
