MIRIAM B. BROWN

Miriam Bray Brown, 83, formerly of Chesapeake, died Tuesday in Richmond.

Mrs. Brown was born in old Norfolk County and was the daughter of the late Nathan and Ruby Cutherell Bray. She was the widow of Ralph A. Brown. Mrs. Brown taught at Great Bridge High School during the 1930s. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She was a direct descendent of the Cutherell family who started the Cutherell Meeting House in 1770, which later became Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Jean Webber of Richmond; her stepsister, Frances Dozier of Chesapeake; and two grandsons, Andrew Webber and Patrick Webber, both of Richmond.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Grove United Methodist by the Rev. Bob McIvor. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Oman Family Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Oak Grove United Methodist Church, or to a favorite charity.
