GOLF SUGGESTION WELCOMED CITIZEN INPUT HELPFUL

A citizen's suggestion to install a miniature golf course at City Park was taken seriously by the city and the city staff has recommended that it might not be a bad idea.

``We looked at the product and the location and we think it could work very well,'' City Purchasing Director John Grook said.

The suggestion came from a man who said he likes to take his grandson to City Park to play golf. He also asked the city to reduce rates for the regular nine-hole golf course for children age 12 or under. Golfers currently pay from $5 to $7 for nine holes at the city-owned links.

The miniature golf course could charge $3 per player and pay for itself if business averaged nine rounds a day, Grook said.

While the city did not address the matter of reducing regular golf fees for children playing with adults, it did move to study the feasibility of the miniature course as an alternative.

That's a good beginning toward listening to positive suggestions from the public. by CNB
