Arthur G. Mercier, 65, of Huntsman Road, a retired U.S. Navy Captain of the Supply Corps, died August 12, 1994.
He was Baptist and a Navy veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of Sewell's Point Men's Golf Club Association, and the Retired Officer's Association. He was a graduate of the Naval Academy, Class of 1953, and had attended high school in Glen Alen, Va.
He is survived by his wife, Florence T. Mercier; one daughter, Jennifer L. Ballance of Chesapeake; two sons, Arthur S. Mercier of Alexandria, Va., and Robert D. Mercier of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Patricia Ballance of Chesapeake, Kyle D. Mercier and Arthur Bradley Mercier, both of Norfolk; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Holloman-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, by Chaplain Thomas C. Marsden. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Garden. The family will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
