'PROJECT' ENABLED DREAMS

A June 26 article referred to public-housing communities as ``projects.''

I am the mother of four. At one time, I was on welfare and lived in the ``project.'' I was glad to have a roof over my children's heads, adequate heat for the winter months, electricity for them to do their school work, water to keep them clean and gas to cook their food.

When a single parent is struggling to support a family and make ends meet, not having to pay water, light and gas bills is a blessing. That let me concentrate on goals and dreams for me and my children.

I have four college graduates: a nurse, an engineer and two accountants. I am thankful for the ``project.'' We will never forget the good or bad time we shared together.
