Henry D. Barnes, 79, of the 100 block of Green Meadow Drive, died Aug. 13, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Barnes was born in Portsmouth. He had retired from Seaboard Railroad as a safety supervisor. He was the widower of Mary Ann Barnes and was a member of Tidal Wave Masonic Lodge No. 273 and was a 50-year member of the Khedive Temple of the Shrine.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Barnes of Lenoir, N.C.; a sister, Juanita Bridgeman of Portsmouth; two grandchildren; and several nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Barnes.
The funeral will be conducted at 11a.m. Wednesday in Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, by the Rev. James D. Thomas. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
