Martha Dutton Clayton, 71, died Aug. 15, 1994, in a Norfolk nursing home.
Mrs. Clayton was born in Gloucester, Va., and moved to Norfolk after marrying the late Charles Richard Clayton of Gloucester. She was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church of Norfolk. She was a longtime resident of Virginia Beach and a homemaker and retired florist.
She is survived by a daughter, Judith C. Pollard of Chesapeake; a son, Dr. C. Gary Clayton of Norfolk; a sister, Mable Spry of Washington, N.C.; a stepmother, Margaret White Dutton of Mathews, Va.; a grandson, Scott Pollard of Chesapeake; a niece, Dee Hammond of New Bern, N.C.; a nephew, Francis William Payne Jr.; a great-niece, Tracy Hammond of Tallahassee, Fla.; and a great-nephew, Michael Hammond of Boca Raton, Fla.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Francis E. Collins in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at Cox Funeral Home in Norfolk from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
