Jeannine Marie Etheridge, 69, of the 2200 block of Haywood Ave., a retired engineering clerk, died Aug. 16, 1994, in her residence.
Mrs. Etheridge was born in Paris, France, and was a member of the French Underground during World War II. She was retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norfolk, the Daisy Chain Circle of The King's Daughters, the In-Hospital Volunteers of Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters since 1980, Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation, Sentara Norfolk General Women's Cancer Group, Friendship Chatper (NU)57 Order of the Easter Star and Ladies of the Drum Corps of Khedive Temple. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marguerite D'Hayer, and her father, Raymond Lemoine.
Survivors include her husband, C. Gatewood Etheridge Sr.; two sons, Carlton Gatewood Etheridge Jr. of Cartersville, Ga., and Andre Damon Etheridge of Chesapeake; a brother, Joh Lemoine of Paris; grandchildren, Gi Gi Comer of Chesapeake, Thomas Etheridge and Tamara Etheridge, both of Cartersville, Ga., and Ashleigh Etheridge of Norfolk; daughters-in-law, Edna Fishel Etheridge of Cartersville, Ga., Robbie Rhodes Etheridge of Norfolk; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Leah and Ed Weatherly of Chesapeake.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Hugh C. White III. Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters or the American Cancer Society.
