IN THE COMMUNITY

Irvine B. Hill was awarded the Department of the Navy's Meritorious Public Service Citation during the National Convention of the Navy League of the United States in San Diego.

Hill, director of communications for Cox Cable Hampton Roads, serves as a vice president in the Navy League in Hampton Roads and is a national director of the Navy League of the United States.

CAMPUS NOTES

Aaron Rosenthal, son of Steven and Miriam Rosenthal of Norfolk, was the recipient of a scholarship made possible by Dr. and Mrs. Wayne A. Babb and the Liberace Foundation which enabled him to study at the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, N.C., this summer. Aaron took private lessons in piano, participated in performing ensembles, and attended classes and seminars presented by faculty and guest artists.

Billie L. Luckie, a resident of Norfolk and an English instructor at the Portsmouth Campus of Tidewater Community College, was invited by the College Board to join other faculty consultants in San Antonio, Texas, for the annual reading and scoring of Advanced Placement Examinations. She evaluated English tests. Luckie has been with TCC since 1982.

Ted Prodan of Norfolk was named to the dean's list at the University of Cincinnati for the spring semester.

MILITARY PEOPLE

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Cynthia E. Cleveland, daughter of Devonne P. Taylor of the 600 block of Grayson St., was recently promoted to her present rank while serving with Commander, U.S. Second Fleet, Naval Station, Norfolk. She joined the Navy in May of 1985.

Navy Seaman Larry A. Stone, son of Syble B. and Edward C. Stone III of the 6800 block of Fordwick Drive, recently graduated from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Fla., and was selected as the Athletic Award winner for outstanding athletic performance while undergoing recruit training.
