C. RALPH GARDNER

C. Ralph Gardner, 72, of the 900 block of Marble Arch, died Tuesday at his residence.

Mr. Gardner was born in St. Cloud, Fla. He was the son of the late Clarence R. and Frances Salters Gardner. Mr. Gardner was a member of Miles Memorial United Methodist Church, Norfolk. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He had been employed at the Public Works Department, Norfolk Naval Base for 39 years and had served as a personnel manager and retired as facility manager.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Owens Gardner; a son, Barry R. Gardner of Coral Springs, Fla.; three stepsons, David M. Owens of Chesapeake, Lee L. Owens of Virginia Beach and Richard B. Owens of Dade City, Fla.; a sister, Kathryn G. Jackson of Longwood, Fla.; and four stepgrandchildren.

A service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Oman Family Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Ernie Myers. The family will be at 924 Marble Arch. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513, Research Division.
