Orion Leon Saunders, 82, of the 1800 block of Pleasant Ridge Road, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Aug. 16, 1994, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Saunders was born in Princess Anne County and was a Protestant. He was retired from the City of Norfolk after 40 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served as a staff sergeant, and was awarded the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service in combat.
Survivors include two sisters, Laura E. Morris of Virginia Beach and Virginia Trueblood of Chesapeake; a brother, Clyde Preston Saunders of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Joseph E. Brewer. Friends may join the family at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today and at the residence, 1877 Pleasant Ridge Road, at other times. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
