Martha Bailey Kellam, 82, a longtime resident of Bowers Hill, and retired postmistress of the Bowers Hill Post Office, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 1994.
Mrs. Kellam was a native of Southampton County, Va., and grew up in Ivor. She retired from the Bowers Hill Post Office on March 31, 1994, after 21 years. She was the widow of W.J. Kellam and a member of Indiana United Methodist Church and the Hoedowners Square Dance Club.
Survivors include three brothers, James Robert Bailey Sr. of Williamsburg, Paul A. Bailey of Jacksonville, N.C., and Marvin Lee Bailey of Roanoke; four sisters-in-law; four nieces; four nephews; and three stepdaughters.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Clifton Whitlock and the Rev. William E. Kube. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and other times at 1200 Tatem Ave., Portsmouth.
