A 52-year-old man drowned in a swimming pool Thursday afternoon in what police said was an accident.
The body of Robert E. Smith of Chesapeake was found in a pool behind a home in the 2400 block of Everglade Road.
Police said Smith did yard work in the area and is believed to have fallen in the pool sometime Thursday afternoon.
The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's office in Norfolk to determine the cause of death, but police said there was no evidence of foul play.
