Edgar L. Hargrove, 75, of the 5500 block of Towne Point Road, a retired maintenance man, died Aug. 21, 1994, in Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth.
Mr. Hargrove was born in Murfreesboro, N.C., and was retired from the City of Portsmouth. He was a member of Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth V. Hargrove; eight daughters, Janice Tyler of Newport News, Francine McQuillia of Suffolk, Mattie Mills, Carolyn Scott, Agnes Wilson, Helen Hargrove, Brenda Taylor and Antionette Butler, all of Portsmouth; four sons, Eddie L. Hargrove Sr. and Calvin A. Hargrove, both of Portsmouth, and Ralph R. Hargrove and Joseph D. Hargrove, both of Norfolk; a sister, Lillie Smith of Murfreesboro, N.C.; 40 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, son-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Roland H. Hargrove Sr.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Joe B. Fleming. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m. today in Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.
