Two players from South Hampton Roads have been named to Division I-AA football preseason All-American teams.
University of Richmond defensive back Maurice Glenn, a senior from Virginia Beach, was named a second-team All-American by both Don Hansen Football Gazette and The Sports Network teams.
Greg Applewhite, a senior linebacker at William and Mary, was a third-team choice on the Don Hansen team.
Applewhite, a graduate of Southampton Academy, was a second-team All-Yankee Conference pick last season. He is a Tribe co-captain this season.
A graduate of Salem High School, Glenn had 130 tackles, five interceptions and 12 pass deflections last season, when he was named All-Yankee Conference.
Richmond running back Uly Scott, who is 512 yards from breaking the school's all-time rushing record, was a third-team choice on the Don Hansen team.
William and Mary quarterback Shawn Knight, a graduate of Norfolk's Maury High, was not listed on either team even though he set a Division I-AA passing efficiency record last season.
