PAUL M. SUREAU

Paul Marcel Sureau, 82, of the 4800 block of Kempsville Green Parkway, a retired chef, died Aug. 26, 1994, in Norfolk.

Mr. Sureau was born in Mortagnes, France, and was a Catholic. He moved to the United States in 1953, living and working in New York. Following his retirement in 1987 he moved to Virginia Beach. He was past president of Cordons Bleus Organizations of France and the United States; past vice president of the Vatel Club of New York; member of de l'Academie Culinaire de France; and member of the French War Veterans, serving during World War II. He was awarded the Medal of Officier du Merite Agricole which is awarded by the French Government.

Survivors include his wife, Georgette M. Sureau; one daughter, Marie F. Pomnitz of Virginia Beach; a son, Jean-Claude Sureau of Stow, Mass.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by Father Merritt P. Jones. Burial will be in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
