Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:
PORTSMOUTH
On June 14, police were called to 1313 Prentis Ave. where officers found a woman lying by a shed in the back yard of a vacant house.
Jacqueline Bunch was pronounced dead at the scene and appeared to have been deceased for several days. Investigators believe she was sexually assaulted.
NORFOLK
On Saturday, Aug. 20, just after 2 a.m., Gloria Jean Wilson, 27, was thrown from the passenger side of a car traveling south on Interstate 464 about a tenth of a mile from South Main Street.
Wilson, of the 1600 block of Elm Ave. in Portsmouth and who was also frequented the Church Street area of Norfolk, was taken to a local hospital where she died two days later.
Witnesses told the State Police that the car she was riding in may have been a late 1980s or early 1990s red Nissan with possibly a red cardinal on the license plate.
State Police need to know where Gloria Jean Wilson was before being dumped on the interstate.
VIRGINIA BEACH
Police are concerned about recent burglaries in Creeds where several guns have been taken.
The first occurred in the 1800 block of Mill Landing Road during the weekend of April 8. Two other burglaries were reported in the 5400 and 5500 block of Fitztown Road.
One occurred on May 4 and the other during the week of July 16.
Three Remington and one Mossberg shotguns were stolen along with a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a compound bow, jewelry, cash and savings bonds.

Arrest warrants were on file as of Aug. 24 for the following people. Included for each is their name, race, date of birth and charges pending. Appearance on the list does not imply guilt.
Alexander, Izzard C. - Black; Nov. 9, 1971; two counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny.
Cowell, George S. - Black; Sept. 2, 1975; armed robbery, use of a firearm.
Severt, Michael - White; Aug. 24, 1975; burglary, grand larceny.
Wiggins, Ricky C. - Black; April 7, 1953; strong arm robbery.
CHESAPEAKE
On July 15, Linwood Freeman, 72, was at a friend's house when he heard a knock on the door. He answered the door and then, police believe, an assailant demanded money.
After exchanging words, Freeman was shot and killed.
Police have identified a suspect, Randolph Carr, 19. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and a mustache.
Carr is known to frequent the Ingleside, Diggs Park and Oak Leaf sections of Norfolk. He is considered armed and dangerous.
HAMPTON
Area churches are being targeted for crimes ranging from vandalism to burglary.
From July 3 to Aug. 16, five area churches throughout the city have been hit. At three of the churches, burglars forced entry into sanctuaries and stole musical instruments, a microwave oven, a copier, a VCR and church artifacts.
In the most recent reported burglary, thieves activated an alarm and fled, leaving most of the stolen property outside the church.
