I take exception to the letter ``Virginians want the crime bill'' (Aug. 18). I am a native Virginian. I am against the crime bill. This bill, like other bills being discussed and proposed in Washington, does not recognize or understand the problem.
The problem we have with crime in the '90s is the result of the failures of the social programs of the '60s. These programs, for those who remember the Great Society, were also going to solve many problems.
