Thara Myrtle Jones, 84, of the 4800 block of Orchard Lane, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Aug. 30, 1994, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Jones was born in Morgan County, Ga., and was a Baptist. She retired from mill work at Spartan Mills, Spartanburg, S.C. After Mrs. Jones retired she moved to this area 25 years ago to be with her family.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martha E. and Carl Buck of Norfolk; a sister, Lois A. Dickerson of Poquoson; five grandchildren and spouses, Gloria Adams of Virginia Beach, Sheryl C. and Dennis R. Shank of Virginia Beach, Rebecca L. and David Smith of Norfolk, Cynthia A. Reynolds and Mack Lyons of Norfolk, Michael A. and Donna Reynolds of Holden, Mo.; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Peter McLewin. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
