NEXT WEEK, we'll face the serious season of school and steady work. But for now we're looking at Labor Day weekend and a chance to dance on the sand at the American Music Festival in Virginia Beach.
Heading the bill are perennial surf doggies The Beach Boys, Motown greats The Four Tops and The Temptations and country's hottest and hippest, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Those concerts cost $10 each (or $20 for all three). But there'll be plenty of free fun, too, including shows from some old favorites - Blood, Sweat & Tears; Little River Band; The Spinners; and Poco - and 40 regional bands playing everything from country to blues to Latin.
And that's not all. They've got circus performers, vaudeville acts, jugglers and magicians forming a weekend-long street party along the Boardwalk. The whole sheebang runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and noon to 7 p.m. Monday.
