Melvin ``Salt'' Ashby of the 400 block of Harbour North Drive, died Aug. 26, 1994, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
Mr. Ashby was born in Norfolk County and was retired as a foreman after 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy B. Ashby; three daughters, Linda Smith and Lauretta Butts, both of Chesapeake, and Edith Gregory of Florida; a son, Melvin Ashby Jr. of Chesapeake; a brother, Solomon ``Sonny'' Ashby of Chesapeake; and four aunts, Hazel Gallop, Helen Cowell and Rosetta Johnson, all of Chesapeake, and Lucy Ashby of Virginia Beach.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Fitchett Funeral Home by the Rev. Frank Jennings. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
