NOVELLA V. EPPS

Novella V. Epps of the 900 block of Avenue F, a retired food service employee, died Aug. 28, 1994, in a local hospital.

She was born in Norfolk, daughter of the late Mary and Benjamin Epps. She retired from the Norfolk city schools after approximately 35 years. She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Norfolk, former member of the (NU)2 Choir and a devoted Sunday School Teacher. She served in both capacities well.

Survivors include two sisters, Marian Louise Epps and Beulah E. Small, both of Norfolk; four nephews, Benjamin J. Epps of New York, James Epps and Herbert Ferguson, both of Norfolk, and Italy Small Jr. of England; a niece, Corine E. Smith of New York; a brother-in-law, Italy Small Sr. of Norfolk; a host of great-nephews and nieces; and two god-children.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 1057 Kennedy St., Norfolk, by the Rev. Frank Anderson. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Friends will assemble with the family at 964 Avenue F, Norfolk, at 11 a.m. Friday for the funeral processional to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
