JMU FRESHMAN IS A ``REVOLUTIONARY'' TEEN

EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD Abbigale Bricker sure is glad her grandma didn't give up on the extensive family tree she started.

If she had, this freshman at James Madison University would have never known she was related to Elias Williams, captain of the Sixth Regiment in Connecticut during the American Revolution.

Because of this relation, Abbigale is now an active member of Children of the American Revolution, an organization of young descendants of Revolutionary War soldiers.

As a member of the Cavalier Society, the Norfolk and Virginia Beach chapter of the organization, Abbigale traveled to the state conference this year. Cavalier won best society in the state at the conference for its overall contributions in poetry writing, fund-raising and community service.

FULL NAME: Abbigale Esther Bricker

BIRTHDATE: February 24, 1976

BIRTHPLACE: Guadalajara, Mexico

SIBLINGS: Garrett, 15

EDUCATION: First Colonial High School graduate; freshman at James Madison University

WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF A PERFECT DAY OFF: Wake up early for a sunny day at the beach with friends, shopping in the afternoon with somebody else's credit card, dinner at Surf Rider and chillin' with friends at anybody's house but mine.

LAST SMART THING YOU DID: Went to visit James Madison before I decided not to go there.

LAST DUMB THING YOU DID: Thought I had lost this form.

FAVORITE MEAL: Pasta and Mello Yellow at Leighanne's house.

FAVORITE MOVIES: ``Sound of Music,'' ``Ferris Bueller's Day Off,'' ``Liquid Cork,'' and ``Forrest Gump''

FAVORITE SONG: ``Thinkin' Problem'' by David Ball

FAVORITE SINGER/BAND: Cypress Hill, The Breeders, The Beatles

LAST BOOK READ: ``The Pelican Brief''

HOBBIES: The only thing I do that qualifies as a hobby is reading.

BEST DATE YOU'VE BEEN ON: I don't think I've been on a ``best date.'' However, if there are any offers, I'm very interested to know what one is like.

WORST DATE YOU'VE BEEN ON: On my first date with this guy, we decided to go for a walk. . . . When we got back, my purse was gone. I lost $20, my favorite purse, my driver's license and my car and house keys. I made him take me home.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?: I'm really shy around people I don't know very well.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOUR PARENTS, WHAT WOULD IT BE?: Their address - no just kidding. I wish they would be more understanding. I'm the oldest, and it seems that they are much tougher on me than my younger brother.

SECRET VICE: I sing in the shower, and I do it well.

FAVORITE TV SHOWS: ``Saturday Night Live'' and ``Talk Soup''

LAST VACATION: Saranac, N.Y. with Young Life

PETS: Four cats (Snowy, Bootsie, Minky, Chloe), two dogs (Odie and Red) and one hermit crab (Millard Fillmore)

BEST JOB: Parking booth girl at Ocean Breeze Fun Park

WORST JOB: Sales associate at Kay-Bee Toys

WHAT ACHIEVEMENTS ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?: Getting into every college I applied to. (Hey, I worked 13 years for that!)

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN 10 YEARS?: Eighteen again, probably. No, seriously, in 10 years I want to still be happy and know how to have fun.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING IN AMERICA, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?: Americans, myself included, often have a tendency to be lazy. With all the opportunity we have in America, it's a shame more people don't take advantage of it. . . . Instead they feel they are owed something just because they are Americans.

HEROES AND ROLE MODELS: God, O.J. Simpson (kidding)

YOUR MOST UNIQUE TRAIT: Sometimes, out of nowhere, I come up with pretty funny jokes.

BEST SUBJECT: Art history, mostly because of the great teacher I had, Mrs. Chapman

WORST SUBJECT: Driver's Ed in 10th grade. My driving instructor was the bravest man alive. I still laugh to think that he passed me.

IF A MOVIE WAS FILMED ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE DRAMATIC TURNING POINT?: Jan. 1, 1994. I made lots of resolutions. I decided I wasn't going to let anyone run my life. I started living for me.

WHAT MAKES YOU MAD?: When people are hired to do a job and they're too lazy to do it. That's what they're hired for, and I can't stand it when they don't do their work. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
