Howard V. Whitney III was named senior vice president/retail administration with Essex Savings Bank in Virginia Beach. Whitney was a managing partner of Whitney Land Co., a real estate development company, in Manakin.
GOVERNMENT
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service named Anthony D. Leger chief of realty for its Northeast region, effective Sept. 18. Leger is manager of Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia Beach, where he has been since 1986. He has been with the Wildlife Service since 1977.
HEALTH CARE
John C. Brindley was named chief operating officer and executive vice president with DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk. Brindley, who has a master's degree in health care administration, was the associate administrator for women and children's services and oncology services with Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church.
MEDIA
Julia Wang was named manager of corporate communications with International Family Entertainment in Virginia Beach. She will establish a corporate communications department, and establish an in-house communications network. Wang previously handled national promotions for The Family Channel, an entity of IFE.
ORGANIZATIONS
Paul Kusserow was appointed director of marketing for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Kusserow, who has a master's degree in English language and literature from Oxford University, is associate director of the National Geographic International Publishing Group. His position with the foundation becomes effective Sept. 12.
Debra S. Crane was elected president of the Virginia chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services. Crane is marketing director with Glenn and Sadler Associates in Virginia Beach.
Robert M. Ealey was elected president of the Peninsula Association of Life Underwriters. Ealey is with Diversified Financial Group.
SERVICE
Ted Belden was appointed vice president of marketing with Letton Gooch Printers Inc. in Norfolk. Belden joined the printing company after serving as manager of Contel Cellular's retail operations.
RETIREMENT COMMUNITY
Mary M. Harrell was named vice president of Westminster-Canterbury, a continuing care retirement community in Virginia Beach. For the past 11 years, Harrell was the administrator of The Ballentine, a retirement residence in Norfolk managed by Westminster-Canterbury.
