BOTHERED BY OLLIE'S WAY

Something still bothers me about how Oliver North brushes aside the damage he has done.

He said proudly of Iran-Contra, ``We saved the lives of the hostages and crushed communism in Central America.'' If we were to take him at his word (maybe), he did this by selling weapons to Iran. Iran in turn used these same weapons to threaten the U.S. armed forces (me included), kill innocent civilians and oppress its own citizens.

I defy any of the hostages to come forward and thank Oliver North publicly for trading their lives for those of women and children murdered by the weapons sold to Iran. Talk about twisted crime control.

Is anyone else bothered by someone like this? What kind of deals would Ollie make while in Congress under the guise of helping Virginia? How could he sit on a congressional committee and administer an oath to a witness?
