The recent article about ecotourism and paddle sports such as kayaking and canoeing was an informative overview of the area's offering. I must point out one important oversight, and that is that the area's only dedicated kayaking center was not mentioned.
Kitty Hawk Kayaks has a storefront location at the 1/4 milepost of Route 158 on Jean Guite Creek in Kitty Hawk. This location offers kayak nature tours into the Kitty Hawk Woods Maritime Forest, a unique portion of the Outer Banks environment.
These tours have been enjoyed by thousands of people over the past few years, the most popular in the area. Kitty Hawk Kayaks, the kayaking division of Kitty Hawk Sports, is also proud of its work in helping to establish the paddling trail at the Alligator River Wildlife Refuge that your article covered, and we sponsored the printing of the trail guide that is available at our store. We also have a permit to offer kayak tours at the refuge.
