Local police are asking public assistance in solving these cases:
NORFOLK
On Wednesday, Aug. 24, about 2 a.m., a 21-year-old Norfolk State University student was using a pay phone near Virginia Beach Boulevard and Park Avenue in Norfolk.
As she was leaving the phone booth, a man approached her with a gun, forced her into her car and made her drive east on Virginia Beach Boulevard.
As they were driving, the man robbed the woman of her money and jewelry and began to sexually assault her. The woman, fearing for her life, deliberately steered her car head-on into a newspaper van at the intersection of Newtown Road and Greenwich Road. The robber, who was slightly injured, then fled on foot.
The suspect is described as black, 15 to 19 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and between 145 and 165 pounds.
He had a medium-brown complexion, acne on his cheeks and gaps between his upper teeth. He was wearing an old red baseball cap, white T-shirt with black lettering and tan shorts. He was armed with a handgun.
The robber may frequent the area of Virginia Beach Boulevard and Park Avenue in Norfolk or the Witchduck Road area of Virginia Beach.
On Thursday, Sept. 1, about 4 p.m., a 35-year-old Virginia Beach woman was leaving the Signet Bank building in the 6300 block of Newtown Road.
As she approached her car, a man with a gun forced her into the car and made her drive to the 3800 block of Muddy Creek Road in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach. He raped the woman and then fled into the woods.
The suspect is described as black, 35 to 40 years old and 170 to 180 pounds.
He had a medium-brown complexion, hazel eyes and 4-inch dreadlocks, which are not shown in the composite.
The rapist was seen a short time later at the Red Barn Market on Indian River Road in Pungo.
During July and August, the north side of the city has experienced an unusual number of shed and garage break-ins.
Police believe the majority of the break-ins are being committed by one or two groups of people.
Items taken are expensive lawn equipment, tools and machinery totaling in the thousands of dollars.
Two suspects are described as black. One is 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall and usually wears red shorts.
The men were driving a compact, dark-colored car and/or a white van.
Most of the thefts occurred around Granby Street or Tidewater Drive.
The thieves may be selling the equipment on the street.
CHESAPEAKE
On Aug. 26, about 1:30 p.m., two men knocked on a door in the 2800 block of Sunrise Avenue.
When a resident answered, the men said their car had broken down and they needed to use a telephone. After the resident allowed them inside, one of them pulled out a gun.
The intruders forced three women and a 3-year-old girl to an upstairs room where they were tied up with duct tape.
After taping the mouth of the 3-year-old baby, the men locked her in the bathroom.
The assailants stole a cellular phone and a small safe box. They then fled.
The first suspect was described as black, about 21, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 170 pounds with black hair and big brown eyes.
He was wearing a green and white shirt and white and black Adidas sneakers.
The second suspect was described as black, about 5 feet 6 inches tall with short black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Eric D.Tucker, 22, is wanted for armed robbery, abduction, and use of a firearm.
Tucker is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Richard M. Fonda, 25, is wanted for armed robbery and violation of probation.
Fonda is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Izzard C. Alexander, 22, is wanted for burglary and grand larceny.
Alexander is described as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
Darryl A. Bridgeman, 22, is wanted for felony hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license. Bridgeman is described as black, 6 feet tall, 165 pounds, with a light complexion, blond hair and green eyes.
PORTSMOUTH
On Sunday, July 24, about 6:30 p.m., Walter M. Taylor, 34, was walking across the Amoco gas station lot at 3909 Twin Pines Road when he was confronted by four young men.
One of the four men pulled a handgun and as Taylor attempted to flee he was shot one time in the back.
The victim was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he died a short time later.
The four suspects, all described as black men, were last seen running down Gateway Drive toward the apartments at the rear of the shopping center.
HAMPTON
On Aug. 26, at 11:20 p.m., a woman was alone in her home in the 600 block of Rutherford Street when someone forced open her front door.
The assailant chased the victim into her bedroom where he repeatedly struck her with his fist while demanding money.
The attacker, realizing the woman was unable to give him money, fled the house through the front door.
Due to poor lighting conditions and the physical attack, the victim was unable to provide police with a description. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
