Franklin Smithwick Harrell Sr., 68, of Route 1, Box 10, died Sept. 10, 1994, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Harrell was born in Bertie County, N.C. He retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Merry Hill, N.C., and Davie Masonic Lodge (NU)39 A.F. & A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Pierce Harrell; a daughter, Julia Winifred Robinson of Manson, N.C.; a son, Franklin Smithwick Harrell Jr. of Merry Hill, N.C.; a stepson, William Raymond Oliver of Ahoskie; four sisters, Lillian Harrell, Sadie Britt, Elizabeth Phelps and Ella H. Evans, all of Merry Hill, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Baptist Church by the Rev. Charles J. Hulin III. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, N.C. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie.
