Marguerite Benbury Kirby, age 85 of Hunnicutt St, Elizabeth City died Friday morning in Guardian Care Nursing Home. She was a native of Hertford and a retired Public Accountant. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Ladies Bible Class, Elizabeth City Chapter (NU) 44 Order of the Eastern Star, Elizabeth City Business & Professional Women's Organization, Flower Lovers Garden Club and the Senior Citizens.
She was daughter of the late Walton Westbrook and Mamie Saunders Benbury and widow of Walter Townsend Kirby.
Surviving are one sister, Sybil B. Forbes of Norfolk, Va.; one sister-in-law Mary Kirby Rodgerson of Elizabeth City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Twiford Memorial Chapel by Rev. Milton Mann, pastor.
Burial will follow in Old Hollywood Cemetery. Twiford's Church St. in charge. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. prior to services.
