The U.S. Steel Group, a unit of USX Corp., and Bethlehem Steel Corp. entered into a cooperative research and development agreement to carry out joint R&D projects in basic iron- and steel-making technology and processes. Under the agreement, the companies will exchange proprietary information to advance collaborative R&D initiatives in basic iron- and steel-making, casting, rolling and finishing processes, and instrumentation development. The agreement will be in effect for 18 months, and U.S. Steel and Bethlehem will evaluate its results and effectiveness during that period. by CNB
