Jones was charged with the murder of Raymond A. Watson, whose body was found in the 6200 block of Chesapeake Blvd. Watson, a 32-year-old cable installer who lived in the 3400 block of E. Bonner Drive, was shot with a handgun.
Tuesday's trial had been scheduled to go before a jury, but Jones' attorney asked for a bench trial after several prosecution witnesses either said they couldn't remember the details of the killing or could not be found by police to testify.
