I support Gov. George Allen's parole-abolition and sentencing plan because it would ensure that all inmates serve at least 85 percent of the sentence imposed by a judge or jury.
It also would spare victims and their families the anguish of annual appearances before the parole board to try to prevent early release of assailants.
Finally we have a common-sense plan that will work for Virginia. All Virginians should support the governor's plan for a safer Virginia.
