MURDER SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF IN

Antonio Lamon Jefferson, charged in connection with the death of a Suffolk man last weekend, turned himself in to police late Sunday.

Jefferson, 20, of the 400 block of Benn Street was charged with first-degree murder and weapons charges in connection with the shooting death of Vernon Lee Jones on Sept. 18. Jefferson was released from the Western Tidewater Regional Jail on $50,000 bond late Sunday.

Jones, 38, was killed outside his home in the 2100 block of Kentucky Avenue. Police said he was shot and killed after an argument with another man.
