SPORTS, ART, MUSIC END CELEBRATION AT BOARDWALK TODAY

The 21st annual Neptune Festival winds down today.

But, there's still plenty to see and do.

The surfing classic, volleyball tournament, sandcastle classic and musical offerings continue throughout the day. The arts and crafts show from 18th to 29th streets features handpainted clothing, jewelry, woodworking, baskets, ceramics, paintings and drawings. More than $2,000 in cash prizes will be awarded.

The grand parade is at 2 p.m. from 14th to 31st streets. About 70 parade entries include bands, floats and marching units. The reviewing stand will be at 31st Street. Handicapped viewing is available on 29th Street. Heather Tace, first citizen of Virginia Beach, is the honorary marshal.

The food booths will be tempting you with a variety of fare - funnel cakes, Polish sausages, barbecue, roasted turkey legs, crab cakes and shrimp, cotton candy, cinnamon rolls, spiral fries and, of course, traditional hot dogs and hamburgers.

Bands performing on stages at 11th, 15th and 24th Streets include Blvd. 58, Panic, Blues Exchange, the Rhondels, Slapwater, Liberation and The Entertainers.

Roger M. Pierce, co-owner of Orbital Technologies, is King Neptune XXI. For a listing of events, call 427-3580, Ext. 878.
