ABOVE: Crowds inspect arts and crafts booths that grew up along the
boardwalk as part of the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival. On the
beach, artists focused their attention on the sand, crafting sand
castles, and volleyball players competed in a tournament. Fireworks
closed out the night. The festival finishes today with a parade at 2
p.m., a surfing contest, art shows and more sandcastle sculpting.
RIGHT: Jason Mathias, center in cap, gets a high five from a member
of the Peanut Fest parade Saturday morning in downtown Suffolk,
where children lined the streets. The festival continues Thursday
and Friday at the Suffolk Municipal Airport.
