Sylvia Louise Drewry Downing, 92, of the 400 block of Middle St., died Oct. 1, 1994, in Portsmouth General Hospital.
Mrs. Downing, a native of Portsmouth, was a member of Monumental United Methodist Church and the widow of Francis Arundell Downing.
Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Downing Longo of Miami; a granddaughter, Jennifer Blakeslee of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a grandson, Mark Wallace of Clearwater, Fla.; a great-grandson, Adam Miller and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Miller, both of Scottsdale; and her sister, Barbara Drewry Grace of Portsmouth.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Grove Cemetery by the Rev. Raymond H. Edmonds Jr. and Rev. R. Beverly Watkins. Foster Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at her home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund of Monumental United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice.
