Chesapeake City Council's decision to limit abusive, non-agenda comments from complaining citizens was an excellent move. The comments are a weekly routine that that is non-productive and lacks any suggestion of respect for council members.
It is boring, disgusting and time-consuming to sit through personal attacks when many important agenda matters remain to be discussed and voted upon. Agenda comments are a different matter.
I do not see the council's decision as taking away citizens' rights, but simply placing things in proper perspective.
