Newport News officials will visit casinos in Colorado, Illinois and Nevada next week, checking out four of the six groups that are vying to operate floating casinos in the city. The officials will visit the other two groups - both of which have casinos in New Orleans - later this month. While casinos aren't legal in Virginia, the city has said it wants to have an operator ready to apply for a license if the General Assembly votes to allow such gambling. by CNB
