W.W. ``BILL'' WHITE

Walter Wellington ``Bill'' White, Sr., 85, of 504 Edenton Road Street, died Saturday morning, October 8, 1994, in Brian Care Center.

A native of Perquimans County he was the son of the late James N. White and Mamie Overton White and the widower of Hazel Bright White. He served for 23 years as Postmaster of the Hertford Post Office and was a member of Hertford United Methodist Church and its Jake White Men's Sunday School Class. White served in the N.C. House of Representatives for two terms in the early 1940's and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include a son, W.W. ``Welly'' White, Jr. and his wife Diane of Hertford and two grandchildren, W.W. ``Wally'' White, III of Manteo and Kelli W. Poe of Cary.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Cedar Wood Cemetery with Rev. Jon Strother officiating. The family will receive friends at Mr. White's residence. Swindell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
