EXECUTIVE TRACK

Landmark Communications Inc. in Norfolk appointed Linda S. Hyatt executive director for its Landmark Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization that will serve as a conduit for charitable gifts from Landmark Communications' newspapers and television stations.

The foundation will award grants for educational, social services, arts, media and environment causes.

Hyatt is executive director of the office of the president at the University of Pennsylvania. She previously was general manager with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, and a reporter with the Roanoke Times & World-News and the Raleigh News & Observer.

Her position with Landmark begins in December.

ACCOUNTING

Frances Denney Richardson was named a partner with the accounting firm of Failes & Associates in Virginia Beach.

Richardson has served as a taxation manager with Failes. She joined the firm in 1990.

BANKING

Edward L. Oast III was promoted to a vice president with First Virginia Bank of Tidewater. Oast has been with the bank since 1983 and serves as a lending officer, primarily for the Peninsula market.

NationsBank in Norfolk promoted Letitia R. Batey, James M. Butler and Adrianne L. Crain from assistant vice presidents to vice presidents.

Batey joined the bank in 1978. She is a community investment coordinator. Butler, who works in the strategic technology department, joined the bank in 1979. And Crain, who joined NationsBank in 1984, works in the treasury management department.

HEALTH CARE

Donald W. Doherty was named a fellow in the American Academy of Medical Administrators. The academy is an international professional organization of more than 3,000 health executives who develop concepts in the field of health care administration.

Doherty, a Chesapeake resident, is a program specialist in psychiatry service with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton.

LAW

Martha M. Poindexter was named a member of the law firm of Crenshaw, Ware & Martin in Norfolk. Poindexter has been with the firm since 1989. She practices in the areas of administrative law, litigation and appellate. Prior to joining the Norfolk law firm, Poindexter was an attorney with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington.

MANUFACTURING

David N. Kennedy was appointed parts and accessories sales manager with Volvo Penta of America in Chesapeake. He is responsible for all boat builder and dealer parts and accessories selling activities. Kennedy was branch manager of Land-n-Sea Distributing in Norfolk.

Volvo Penta, a wholly owned subsidiary of AB Volvo Penta, is the worldwide headquarters for product development, engineering and manufacture of gasoline marine propulsion systems.

It markets them through over 3,000 dealers and 100 major boat builders in the U.S. and Canada.

REAL ESTATE

Colleen Nabhan was appointed director of marketing with Womble Realty. Nabhan has been with the real estate company for one year, and was the assistant to the director of the new-homes division. MEMO: Executive Track reports executive and management changes.
