MARTHA A. OTTE

Martha Ann ``Marti'' Otte died at home after a long illness on October 7, 1994.

Mrs. Otte was a native of Ohio and had lived in Hampton for 30 years. She was known throughout the area for her interests in music. She served on the boards of the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, Peninsula Youth Orchestra, and Young Audiences. Mrs. Otte was accompanist for the Chapman Youth Ensemble, taught piano at home and began the music program at Hampton Roads Academy in 1985. She composed church music for the choir and sang in the church choir of First Presbyterian Church for many years.

She enjoyed many other interests in art, gardening, sailing, golf, and travel. She recently served on the Hampton Arts Commission.

She was a wonderful mother and will be missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Otte is survived by her husband, Dr. Ray C. Otte; sons, Charlie Otte and Robert Otte; her daughter, Beth Tyree; five grandchildren; her mother, Nina Mooth of Westminster Canterbury in Virginia Beach; and a brother, John Mooth of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon today in First Presbyterian Church in Hampton. Interment services will be at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News and the committal will commence at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hampton First Presbyterian Church. Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
