TEEN SENTENCED IN MURDER

A teenager pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the July 1993 murder of Terry Holley near the basketball courts at Norview Middle School.

Damien B. Morant, 18, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for murder and three years for use of a firearm as part of a plea agreement, court records show.

On July 30, 1993, the 25-year-old Holley was found slumped in his Acura Legend, parked in the 900 block of Winward Road, a cul-de-sac about a quarter-mile from the basketball courts. Holley was shot twice in the back of the head with a handgun.

Four boys watched from behind a tree as the killing occurred, according to testimony by one of the boys last September in Juvenile and Domestic Court. He said he watched as Morant, the passenger in Holley's car, threw open the driver's door and shoot Holley.

Morant then drove Holley's car from the school to the dead-end street and got in a car driven by friends, police said. The boys later told police what they saw.
